Withings is one of the leading companies in the space, and it’s just introduced a new feature for its premium Body Scan smart scale.
The WIthings Body Scan is one of the most high tech digital scales you can get today, but early adopters weren’t able to take advantage of the ECG function.
That has now changed, with the smart scale entering the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).
Available in black, the Body Scan now offers a medical-grade, 6-lead electrocardiogram, which can detect atrial fibrillation. It takes this reading in just 30 seconds, and you can easily share the results with your doctor through the Withings app.
Other features
The Withings Body Scan is more than just a set of scales with an ECG though. It promises to measure fat and muscle mass in your legs, torso, and arms, as well as an overall view.
These measurements can help inform you on muscle imbalances, which you can then work on fixing through improved fitness routines. It uses the retractable handle with embedded electrodes and conducts a Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) with multiple frequencies (BIA).
It also lets you estimate your arterial age as an indicator of heart health; estimate visceral fat – or the amount of fat stored around the organs; and estimate the amount of energy your body needs every day to help you make more efficient nutritional choices.
It comes with a 3.2-inch screen for easy reading, Wi-Fi connectivity for effortless syncing, and about a year’s battery life from it’s rechargeable battery.
Oh! And it will measure your weight.
If you already own the Body Scan smart scale, you should receive a notification to enable the new ECG functionality. Otherwise, it should be there when you set up your new device.
