Google has officially launched the Pixel 7a, the latest addition to its A-Series smartphones that boast a range of advanced features at a reasonable price.

The new phone is powered by the custom Google Tensor G2 chip, making it faster, more efficient and more secure than its predecessors, the Pixel 6a.

The Pixel 7a offers many of the same features as Google’s premium phones, such as Face Unlock, 8GB of RAM, an up to 90Hz Smooth Display and wireless charging, all starting at an affordable price of $749.

Additionally, the phone features a sleek design, with an iconic Pixel camera bar and a durable mid-frame architecture made with 100% recycled content.

All about AI

For users who want AI smarts in their phones, the Pixel 7a is packed with a range of features, including Live Translate, Recorder Speaker Labels and Voice Messaging Transcription on the Messages app.

Other AI-powered features include Call Screen, Hold for Me and Clear Calling.

Call Screen informs users who’s calling and why before they answer, while Clear Calling enhances the caller’s voice and reduces background noise. Hold for Me, on the other hand, waits on the line so users don’t have to and notifies them once the representative is available.

The camera system on the Pixel 7a has also received a significant upgrade, with an upgraded main camera that features a 72% larger sensor than the Pixel 6a, an all-new 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, Night Sight that is twice as fast as the previous version, and Long Exposure, which can add texture and energy to things in motion.

The phone’s front camera can now capture 4K videos and also includes Super Res Zoom up to 8x. The Pixel 7a also includes Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur in Google Photos, as well as Real Tone technology for accurate skin tone representation.

The Pixel 7a is available for purchase starting today for $749 from Google Store, JB Hi-Fi, Telstra, Optus, Officeworks and Harvey Norman. For a limited time, users who purchase from the Google Store will receive $150 worth of Google Store Credit and a limited edition case.
