Wireless charging was a game-changer for me when it first launched. I picked up a couple of Qi chargers – one for my bedside and one for my desk at work – and by simply dropping my phone on it when I wasn’t using it, my battery problems evaporated.

MagSafe made things even better. When I tested the Belkin’s Boostcharge Pro 2-in-1 last year, it turned my iPhone into the world’s best alarm clock.

But the first generation of the Qi wireless charging standard couldn’t be described as fast, offering just 5W of power to charge your device. And MagSafe was exclusive to iPhones.

Enter Qi2.

Qi2 brings faster speeds and a Magnetic Power Profile, which helps deliver faster efficiency by introducing support for magnets to ensure optimal charging of speeds up to 15W.

The TLDR version? Qi2 will open up the benefits of MagSafe charging to a wider range of products. And naturally, Belkin is first to market with Qi2 products in Australia.

Belkin’s Qi2 range

Belkin is a member of the Wireless Power Consortium (so is Apple), which helped develop the new Qi2 standard, so it’s hardly a surprise the company has pumped out a trio of the first Qi2 products.

Here’s what’s on offer:

BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Magnetic Stand – WIZ023auBK/WH

An update to the popular 3-in-1 charger, the Qi2 model delivers up to 15W of fast wireless charging for iPhone 12 models and later, 5W to Apple Watch and 5W to AirPods.

BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 Magnetic Pad – WIZ021auBK/WH

This travel-friendly charging pad delivers up to 15W of fast wireless charging to iPhone 12 models and later, 5W for AirPods and 5W for an additional device from a USB-C port.

BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Stand – WIA008auBK/WH

If you’re after a portable stand solution for on the go, the Qi2 Convertible Stand is MagSafe compatible, and offers a convertible design allows users to switch between pad and stand modes for FaceTime, taking calls or streaming video while charging.

It’s important to note that currently though, the only Qi2 phone is the iPhone 15 range. That will change over time as Android manufacturers get on board with Qi2 certification.
