Home cleaning appliances are getting better and better every year. The latest cordless model from global vacuum company Shark, the Cordless Detect Pro, keeps the innovation moving on, with 4 new technologies, an auto-empty base station and an hour’s battery life.

The big message from Shark with the release of this vacuum is in the innovation the company has developed around dirt detection. Makes sense they called it the Cordless Detect Pro, right?

For this stick vacuum, there are four new technologies Shark has developed to help better discover the dirt around your home in order to then clean it more effectively.

  • DirtDetect: Detects dirt you cannot see and automatically boosts suction power for deep cleaning. Shark reckons this can lead to up to 50% better dirt pickup.
  • EdgeDetect: Senses edges and corners of your home while you vacuum and then doubles the suction power to make sure it gets all the dirt.
  • FloorDetect: The vacuum can tell the difference between hard floors and carpets, and will optimise suction to the type of floor you’re cleaning.
  • LightDetect: Automatically adjusts the brightness of the headlight in darker areas like under your bed so you can see all the dirt and debris hidden away.

Auto empty system for hands free cleaning

Just like the best robot vacuum cleaners, Shark’s Cordless Detect Pro vacuum comes with an Auto Empty system base station that allows you to dock the vacuum after a clean so that it is always charged and ready to go.

Stick it on the base and it will suck out all the dirt you’ve just cleaned up, and can hold up to 30 days worth of cleaning before you need to empty it. If you vacuum once a week, that means you can go six months without having to empty the bag.

While vacuuming, you can get up to an hour’s worth of suction on eco mode, as well.

Pricing and availability

The Shark Cordless Detect Pro Auto Empty System (IW3611) is available to purchase directly from sharkclean.com.au and retailers including Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, The Good Guys and Amazon.

It has an RRP of $699.99.
