If I was starting to build a home theatre from scratch right now, I’d be looking very closely at the Ultra Short throw projector market. These are some of the best projectors available, and give you giant screens, without needing complex installations.

The new Epson EH-LS650 ultra short throw projector can deliver a 120-inch screen while sitting just 40cm away from the wall.

Practically, that means you can rest it on your entertainment unit and enjoy a picture almost double your standard 65-inch TV.

While the big screen with easy setup is certainly the biggest selling point, there’s plenty of additional features worth checking out as well.

Epson’s long history in projector technology allowed it to include its 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip 3LCD technology, which can deliver 3,600 lumens of colour and white brightness.

The EH-LS650 features integrated speakers from Yamaha, which deliver 2.1 virtual sound. To be honest, that’s going to leave you underwhelmed compared to the screen, so it’s a good thing it has a HDMI port supporting Dolby Atmos audio quality, so you can have a fully immersive experience with a single cable.

The projector also offers an Android TV interface, so you can seamlessly stream your favourite service directly from the projector itself, without need for an additional box.

Epson EH-LS650 pricing and availability

The Epson EH-LS650 ultra short throw projector is available now at Epson’s online store and Epson resellers for an RRP of $3,999.
